MANUFACTURING / JAPAN SOURCING
Non-ferrous metal materials from Japan
Start with the material and its supplied form: plate, tube, bar, wire, foil or casting. A finished machined part adds a different drawing and processing scope.
Define the item and the work
Nippon Tokushukan’s public material list distinguishes copper grades, copper alloys, titanium and other materials.[1] A family name is an enquiry starting point; a specific offered material still needs its grade, supplied condition and evidence.
State intended use, destination and known specifications. Separate requirements you have already approved from choices you want the supplier to propose.
- 1Identify the alloy
- 2Define the supplied form
- 3Agree the required evidence
An enquiry framework, not a chemical production process or a claim of supplier coverage.
Choose the relevant product family
The rows identify distinct enquiries. A reference sample or an existing specification can help, but unknown requirements should remain visible.
| Product family | Describe first | Clarify the work |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum materials | Describe firstAlloy, temper, form and specification | Clarify the workStock supply, cut size or further processing? |
| Copper and copper alloys | Describe firstGrade, condition, form and required properties | Clarify the workConductivity/strength requirements and evidence? |
| Titanium and nickel materials | Describe firstExact grade, condition and use | Clarify the workApplicable specification and certification? |
| Drawn tubes and bars | Describe firstOuter dimensions, wall/section, length and tolerances | Clarify the workStraightness, ends and downstream processing? |
| Non-ferrous castings | Describe firstAlloy, drawing, condition and inspection needs | Clarify the workAs-cast supply, heat treatment or machining? |
| Foil, wire and powder | Describe firstMaterial, dimensions or particle requirements and use | Clarify the workLot properties, packaging and handling information? |
Go deeper on a specific decision
For a plate request, see what is missing from an offer described only as “6061”, and what evidence the alternative decision needs.

Make the offer and evidence refer to the same item
Ask the supplier to identify the exact offered product, lot or revision, processing included, certificate content and unresolved deviations. Keep catalogue information separate from evidence for the delivered material.
Include quantity and unit, delivery destination and desired timing. If origin or production location is a requirement, state it explicitly rather than inferring it from a Japanese company name.
